You came back to the trumpet after 10, 20, maybe 40 years. You bought a $600 mouthpiece, maybe a $7,000 pro horn, and you still can't play from low C to high C in tune, in time, with a good sound. The gear isn't the problem. Your setup is.

In this video I give you the exact routine I'd use to come back if I were stuck on a desert island with only a trumpet: cheek flutters, the pencil exercise, block buzzing, soft lead pipe attacks, octave slurs, long notes, tonguing and flexibilities, all played along with me. You also get the low C to high C test that tells you whether you're ready to chase high notes at all.

If you're trying to play the way you did at 25 and it keeps failing, that's not an age problem. That's a setup problem dressed up as an age problem.
