*Greetings Plofessors,*
In this video, I investigate the disturbing history of cyberbullying within K-pop fandoms, beginning with the recent case of Mina, an ENHYPEN fan whose interaction with the group at a concert was followed by intense online harassment. I also look back at the tragic case of Lee Eunji, a teenager who faced severe cyberbullying from Super Junior fans nearly 20 years ago.
Although these cases happened years apart, the similarities raise an uncomfortable question: why does this cycle of harassment keep happening within K-pop fandoms?
This is Part 1 of a two-part investigation into K-pop cyberbullying. In Part 2, I will be interviewing survivors of K-pop fandom harassment and investigating how coordinated cyberbullying campaigns are organized and spread online.
