From an original VHS sold by Edgar Wright at his school in Wells, titled The Rolf Harris Collection.
Archive with original cover: https://archive.org/details/edgarwright1990_202512
This tape is an intriguing early document of Wright’s formative work, provided it is viewed with appropriate historical context.
Filmed between 1989–1990, the collection consists of 8mm short films and stop-motion animations created during Wright’s teenage years. It includes:
Rolf Harris Saves the World
Rolf Harris Two: The Bearded One
Rolf’s Cartoon Club Watchdog
Context: At the time these films were made, Rolf Harris was an Australian musician, painter, actor, and television personality who was widely popular and well-liked on British television. He gained fame from the 1960s onwards and was particularly known for his catchphrase “Can you tell what it is yet?” while painting, and for performing novelty instruments such as the stylophone and wobble board. These elements are directly referenced and parodied throughout the films, along with exaggerated, slapstick scenarios.
In 2013, Harris was convicted of sexual offences against children and imprisoned. He remained a disgraced figure until his death in 2023. This upload is presented strictly for archival and historical purposes. It should be viewed within the cultural context in which it was created, and no one involved should be assumed to condone Harris or his actions.
Content Warning: These films include depictions of violence, including cartoonish attacks on schoolchildren, and contain teenage performers shouting phrases such as “rape” and “pillage.” They also feature music performed by Rolf Harris, and a short segment (27:43–28:07) includes actual audio of Harris from his radio show praising Rolf Harris Saves the World. While the films themselves are satirical, this segment features Harris directly and may be disturbing to some viewers.
