A 40-year-old man is in custody in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man in East El Paso after a high-speed chase ended in a rollover in Horizon City.

According to the El Paso Police Department, a 32-year-old was shot and killed at the 1700 block of Charlie Smith Drive at around 6 a.m. in an incident that investigators are calling "family-related."

Investigators said that after getting 911 calls regarding a shooting, officers responded to the scene hearing that a person had left in a Dodge pickup truck.

An alert was sent to all law enforcement agencies in the area and an EPPD officer reportedly spotted the truck in Central El Paso.

Police said this triggered a pursuit that involved troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The chase came to an end at around 10:30 a.m. in Horizon City, in the area of Maravillas Street and Desierto Bueno Avenue.

Video from the scene appears to show the suspect's vehicle on its side, suggesting that it rolled over.

EPPD believes the community at large is not in danger.
