A blue New Holland and a green Claas. Two rival badges, two rival dealers, two colours farmers love to argue about. But whose engine is actually under the bonnet?
In this video I follow the engines. I look at the Basildon factory in Essex, which built more than three million of its own engines before the last one in 2008. I look at who makes the engines for the New Holland T6, T7 and T7 XD today, and who makes them for the Claas Axion, the Arion 400 and the Lexion combines. And I look at the one engine maker whose name turns up under both bonnets, and what that means when you are standing in a sale field with a catalogue in your hand.
