Donald Trump is replacing his top White House aide Susie Wiles after the Republicans took a hammering in the US midterms.

Trump biographer Michael Wolff joins Rachel Johnson to give his immediate reaction - and to explain why he's trying to raise so much money despite leaving office in two years.

The President said that his deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller will become his new chief of staff, with Ms Wiles moving over to his political operation.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Miller is "one of my most trusted advisors", as he praised Wiles for doing "an outstanding job".

Ms Wiles has taken to Twitter to confirm she is leaving her role.

She wrote: "Today is my last day as White House Chief of Staff. Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime. I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First.

"More than anything, I’m grateful for the extraordinary people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Miller is "one of my most trusted advisors", as he praised Wiles for doing "an outstanding job".

Meanwhile, two top officials at the US Department of Justice resigned on Friday, accelerating an exodus of senior figures from the department following the midterm elections.

The departures of John Eisenberg, who headed the DOJ's National Security Division, and Jason Reding Quiñones, who pursued probes into past criminal investigations of Trump, follow the resignation of civil rights unit chief Harmeet Dhillon on Thursday.

Mr Trump’s party was stripped of control of the Senate and the House of Representatives this week following a string of historic losses in once Republican strongholds.

Mr Trump responded to the losses by saying it would have been a "landslide" if he had been on the ticket before taking aim at his party's candidates and blaming the war in Iran.
