Brett Bruen, president of the Global Situation Room and former Obama administration official, said that Trump's speech at the UN General Assembly 'came off looking desperate' and was not indicative of a White House that is offering diplomacy from a position of strength. Bruen said that Trump's comments in his speech about having 'the spoils' of Venezuela fly in the face of the why the United Nations was founded after the Second World War.
