The court is shown a video call between Miguel Salguero-Olivares and Katie Ellen, where the defendant becomes visibly emotional. During the jail-call video, a known handwriting sample of Salguero-Olivares is shown as evidence. Investigators noted that the handwriting features appear consistent with the 2012 crime-scene note found at the apartment of UNC student Faith Hedgepeth, whom Salguero-Olivares is accused of killing.
